FAQ

What people ask us

  1. Who actually does the work when I use this service?

Independent local providers do the work. Catabcde Septic is a referral service. We take your request and connect you with a provider in our network. We do not pump tanks, fix drainfields or visit your home. The provider gives you the estimate, does the job and answers questions about it. Providers do the work, and you decide whether to hire them.

  2. What are the early signs my septic tank needs pumping?

Listen to the gurgle. Slow drains, gurgling pipes, a faint sewer smell in the yard or soggy grass near the tank can all be early clues. Say you notice the toilet flushing a little slower each week. That is a small sign, and a small fix is often possible if you act early.

  3. What should I expect after I send a request?

You share a few details about your home and the problem. A provider in our network reviews them and reaches out to talk about next steps. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies. You can also Request a callback to check provider availability. Nothing is booked until you agree to it with the provider.

  4. Can I fix a septic problem myself?

Some small things are fine. You can spread out laundry loads, fix a leaky faucet and stop flushing wipes. Opening the tank, digging near the drainfield or using strong chemical products is a different story. Those jobs can harm the system or hurt you. If you are unsure, ask a local provider before you start.

  5. Is it safe to stay in the house if sewage backs up?

Sewage carries germs, so keep kids and pets away from the wet area. Stop running water, skip the washer and dishwasher, and do not walk through standing liquid in a basement. Use gloves if you must touch anything. Request a callback to reach a provider for emergency septic cleaning, and never go into a tank or pit.

  6. Will my homeowner's insurance cover septic damage?

It depends on your policy. Some policies may cover sudden damage, while wear and tear or neglect is often excluded. Check your policy or ask your agent. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, such as with notes and photos. Catabcde Septic cannot promise what any insurer will do.

  7. How much does septic pumping or repair cost?

Typical U.S. prices vary by tank size, access, location and the work needed. Pumping often costs a few hundred dollars, while drainfield repair can run into the thousands. Cold ground and heavy rain can also change the job. Always ask the provider for a written quote before work begins.

  8. Does a flooded yard or a well on my property change anything?

Yes. Spring flooding and heavy storms can saturate a drainfield, so it may not absorb water well. If you rely on a private well, tell the provider. A failing system can affect nearby water, so ask whether water well service or a water test makes sense. Do not drink water you suspect is tainted.
